For all my fans
who have been wondering when (if ever) The
Gathering is going to
be published, let me
tell you that I'm as anxious as you are! Sometimes, though, success
brings added pressures and commitments in time. And time, friends,
seems in short supply.
I've been
traveling and doing book signings, because my publisher has committed
itself to agressively marketing three of my books, among them Common Sons and The Blind Season. Your fantastic readership of my
work has caused the publisher to take notice, so I can only go along
with the publisher in working with them to market these books.
But, please know
that I am working on The Gathering. I've worked for years to get to
this place in my work, and each word I write in The Gathering is written as though I'm among
life-long friends. They are, of course the characters who have
populated the Common Threads in the Life series.
So be prepared for
one more long visit with them when The Gathering is finally published. Here's who
you'll meet again:
- Joel Allen-Reece
- Tom Allen-Reece
- Shara Margaret (their daughter)
- Sharon Minninger (Shara's mother)
- Paul Romaine from Common Sons and The Salvation Mongers
- Other characters new to this story
|
- Eva
Reece, now the matriarch of the
family
- Katherine, Eva's oldest daughter
- Patricia, Eva's second daughter
- Sally Reece (Eva's adopted daughter from
the Stroud family)
- Henry Reece (Eva's adopted son from the
Stroud family)
- Patrick Reece (Eva's adopted son from
the Stroud family)
- Sudha Reece (Patrick's wife)
- Detrick Reece (Eva's adopted son from
the Stroud family and twin to Patrick)
- Betty Reece (Detrick's wife)
- Douglas Joel: Detrick's and Betty's
oldest
son
- Thomas Henry: Detrick's and Betty's
second
son
- Joe Patrick Reece (whom everyone calls
JP): Detrick's and Betty's youngest son

As you can see,
this story is loaded with characters from the other books in the
series.
It is once again
set in the not-so-fictitious town of Common, New Mexico. It is August
of 1999, and everyone is anticipating the coming of the new millenium.
But something occurs to bring them all together sooner than they had
planned, something about Tom and Joel...

Looking
for cover art for The Gathering
|
I
would just love it if some of you most talented readers would submit
cover art for this final novel in the series. It would have to be
copyright free, except for your copyright. Your attribution for
the cover would be prominently displayed. Contact
me for requirements (size,
dpi, etc.)
if you would like
to submit your cover art, or photography for this final cover.
Depictions of Tom and Joel of course would be welcome, but as the
creator, I have a pretty good idea in my mind's eye what they would
look like. Until now, I've not found any real people who quite have
that look for Joel or Tom.
