| Little
Sister’s
will be launching the inaugural issue of a new online literary magazine
(LSB Review) in early January, and we are looking for contributions
from authors working in the fields of lesbian, gay, transgender, and
“queer” literature and arts.
It is our goal to feature a new author each month, so we’re
hoping you
will consider adding your name to our list. Contributions will be
short, simple, and quite flexible depending on what material
you
would like to contribute. For instance, a top-ten list of books,
a short book review or recommendation, or an opinion piece on
why
a particular book might be important in queer history.
In exchange for these contributions, our magazine will
feature
your author bio, with information on your publishers, and
links
directly to your books as they appear on the Little
Sister’s web
site: www.littlesistersbookstore.com Whenever possible, your publicity
photograph will appear on the front page of the magazine with
the
link to your article.
The magazine will be in HTML format, with monthly updated
links
to our top-ten bestsellers, lgbt resources, information about
Little Sister’s ongoing fight against censorship, and so
on. It
will also include book reviews, new video releases, and short essays by
staff and customers of the bookstore. The magazine will be
sent
out via email to Little Sister’s extensive customer
list and
available as a download from our web site. They will also be
archived so that readers can enjoy previous issues at the
click
of a button.
We believe that this project will be of enormous
cross-promotional value to authors, publishers, and Little
Sister’s, and that it will present an opportunity for our
readers to
discover both new and established authors, and entire new
areas
of literature. Also, it will get our customers (both in
Vancouver
and abroad) involved in a hands-on way with our work.
The working title for this magazine is “LSB
Review,” which with
your help, we believe will become a widely recognized and
read
resource for all people working in lgbt literature and arts.
For more information, or if you would like to contribute to
this
project, please get in touch with me by email, and I will
attempt
to build a schedule for the upcoming year, and offer some
guidance to you in terms of deadlines, etc…
Thanks! |
