A note for independent, small, and midlist
publishers. The Independent Gay
Writer is an excellent venue for publishers to place ads, and
the portal page is a good location to be noticed, since it is the first
page each issue that readers encounter, the page that is most
often bookmarked by repeat visitors. Contact the Editor if you would like to place
an ad for your company. |
From the Editor...
We don't have a theme this issue, but there is a
good spectrum of books for consideration, from Michael Halfhill's
latest book—a sequel to Bought
& Paid For, titled
Scimitar—to
the newest novel by English writer Jay Mandal, titled
Precipice. Tony
Heyes reviews Precipice and
assures me that it's not
only a tear-jerker but uplifting, as well.
Apparently the editorial section I introduced last issue was a better
idea than it was not
a good idea. We had one reader who asked to be
removed from the mailing list because we opened this magazine to social
and political, non-book issues. But we heard from writer Rochelle
Schwab who wanted to submit an editorial about gay marriage; and
Patricia Nell Warren submitted an editorial on the same subject. Andrew
Barriger, author of the three-book Faith series submitted his editorial
on last year's election.
With that subject covered, I am glad to submit for your consideration a
non-fiction book by Abigail Garner on gay families, titled Families
Like Mine, Page 16
Last issue we had a couple of articles on the
subject of writing, and this issue Lori L. Lake has reviewed a book,
titled Some Writers Deserve to Starve.
Find out why, page 15.
